Hamptons Psychological Assessments PLLC
Psychological Evaluations, Therapy & Consultation for Children, Adolescents, Adults & Families
Intellectual assessments are used for a variety of reasons including assisting in educational placements, admission to gifted and talented programs, and to apply for test accommodations through the College Board (SAT, AP Exam) or ACT. The purpose of a cognitive assessment is to assess a client's intellectual and cognitive functioning. These assessments are commonly referred to as Intellectual tests or IQ tests. By definition intelligence refers to the ability to learn, apply knowledge and deal effectively with one's environment. Intellectual testing assesses a wide range of abilities, including attention, memory, problem solving skills, language skills, and crystallized intelligence. Our office utilizes one or a combination of following assessment batteries: Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Fourth Edition (WISC-IV), Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Fourth Edition (WAIS-IV), Stanford Binet-Fifth Edition (SB-V), and Woodcock Johnson Tests of Cognitive Abilities-Third Edition (WJCOG-III).
